All of the recent fracas about the DOJ suing the state of Arizona got me thinking about something.

Imagine if you will (invoke your best Wayne's World or equivalent whirlpoolish harpsian trip into fantasyland)...

What if a state like Arizona or Texas decided that enough was enough, made a solemn declaration of sovereignty, and kicked out ALL federal public employees, institutions, and boldly stated that the federal government is not welcome anymore until the federal government recognizes the Constitutional rights of the state. No more monies sent to Washington DC and all representatives of Washington DC (federal employees) shall henceforth be considered enemies.

Imagine indeed...

I think that is what is needed. The ruling class has finally broken the camel's back...

I don’t know if it’s a matter of denial or the suspension of disbelief, but I think that the majority of the American populace is under the arrogant delusion that the United States is somehow immune from the coming financial and social maelstrom resulting from years of socio-political engineering, as if:

This time it will be different, although it has never worked in the past (history be damned), or

We’re too educated/enlightened/better for all of the predictable poverty/suffering/death/tyranny to happen in the US.

I’m reminded of one of my favorite Ayn Rand quotes: "We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality."

So many people are quick to restrict the freedoms of others they disagree with that they are blinded to the bigger picture and the ever constricting web of the nanny state forming around them. They cheer when smoking bans are implemented, but wail when the same institution bans foie gras. They cheer when they take away the profits earned by a “greedy” private corporation or individual, but scoff when the same institution mandates that they must buy medical insurance or face a fine, or jail, or both. In their fervor to enforce their will upon another group of people they naively hand their jailers the keys to their own cells.

It can’t happen here, they say.

Another quote comes to mind, from German anti-fascist Martin Niemoller: "First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."

All one has to do is take a look around and just open your mind and your eyes to current events and recent history to see that many of those past horrific episodes of the evil that humanity has endured against itself are still happening all around us. Slavery, religious and political persecution, dictatorships, and ethnic cleansing are alive and well, just generally outside our borders (at present). People think that our nation’s wealth and sophistication will protect us, that if only those other countries, civilizations, or people were like us then they could have resisted and prevented the atrocities left in the path for the control over humanity.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but sometimes it can. All it takes is a stroke of a pen, a stroke on a keyboard, or one more non-fatal cut to drain more of your blood, facilitating the loss of your wealth (stock/housing markets), property (eminent domain), or freedom (smoking bans, helmet laws), just to name a few.

It can’t happen here, they say.

Yes it can, and it already has...

New "America"

For the past 200+ years America has been the world's beacon of freedom, prosperity, and a second chance for a new life free from tyranny. It was (and still is to an extent) a place where your ingenuity, hard work, and determination would be rewarded if you were willing to sacrifice the blood, sweat, and tears required to meet your dreams.

Sadly, I think this beacon's illumination is rapidly dimming under the growing shadows of control by the state. Soon it will join the great cultures of Europe in an era of socialist darkness, where freedom of the individual is valued less than the desires and mandates of the state.

For those of us who yearn for a society of limited governance as originally defined by the US Constitution, where on the globe can we turn to find a new "America" where freedom is valued most of all?

Take a look at this video for an example on how "wonderful" the Canadian socialist health care system is. Why is it that Canada is moving back towards privatization and the USA is going the other way? Because it has nothing to do with heath care.

We haven't even got to "cap and tax" yet...

So, according to the DHS, I'm a radical threat to the safety and security of the federal government. Fortunately, based on their broad definitions, so is the majority of the citizenry of the US - even most Obama supporters. They'll use this as an excuse to justify whatever they want to do to you.

You better put your tinfoil hats on before you watch this video. It is very long, but VERY interesting. The video is about the "New World Order" so if you scoff at the existence of such things then go on with your life, watch another episode of American Idol, or continue planning your trip to the Obama inauguration party.

But if you are the least bit curious of what it's all about, this video sums it up very nicely. The guy may be a passionate quack for all I know, but he can spin a good yarn. He seems to have no partisan axe to grind, other than for those who want to control everything.

I had mixed emotions after viewing this the first time. In one aspect, appealing to my cynical nature it made a lot of sense, probably because I wanted it to be true since it fits into my worldview. But like a vague horoscope or fortune cookie one could easily make the argument or tie in a certain event as an example of the pieces falling together in support of global control. Who knows? I do know that I'll probably now observe current events and the state/federal/global "crisis du jour" with a different filtered lens, shaking my head, and chuckling a little more under my breath.

If I end up believing any of this, I don't know what I'll do to help fight it. My more seductive and persuasive cynical side tells me that there is nothing I can do about it, so why even try and just get out of the way and let this corrupt and immoral world implode. My general dislike of people makes this quite tempting.

Be warned. You may not like what you are about to learn. Ignorance may be bliss.

Besides the link to one of the "behind-the-scenes" men mentioned in the movie, he sure has a vast amount of re-tread Clintonoids filling his cabinet posts and cabal of advisors. Just something to think about. Change... It would be funny if it wasn't such a blatant lie.

I think the fatal nail in the coffin was set on 11/04/08, but there have been many nails hammered in during the last 100 years. After some carbon dating experiments, it was concluded that there were high concentrations of nails cast during the 1930s, 1960s (the largest amount), 1970s, 1990s, and 2000s. These same nails were also discovered to be the most well-meaning, but also the most misguided and most toxic to the unfortunate host. This once proud country borne of the simple and robust ideals set forth in the US Constitution succumbed to this terminal malady by its own volition before it was completely consumed by the accelerated malignancy within.

R.I.P., United States of America.

It was good while it lasted, but like all great experiments in human civilization the emotional temptation of cradle to grave protectionism eventually overwhelms the logical yearning for freedom and self determination from within. The prosperity that the latter makes possible unfortunately also sows the complacent, unaccountable, and entitled seeds of the former. When left untended these weeds multiply exponentially in the fertile soil of willing state sponsorship and control, and ultimately crushes the formerly self-reliant human ecosystem under the enormity of its own collectivist weight.

This critical tipping point is no longer ahead of us, but now behind and above our heads. We're now accelerating downhill.

First of all - congratulations, Mr. President-elect. For the sake of the country please prove me wrong. Unlike most of my counterparts, I will give you the respect and the benefit of the doubt your position deserves until you choose otherwise - AND - unlike most of my counterparts, I will support you as my President as much as possible without compromising my core principles. Good luck. Surprised? I hope not. You see, despite of what you may think of me I love this country and want the best for it, so if President Obama does well, the United States does well. It's a win-win for everyone. When it comes down to it, we're all on the SAME team.

I hope the price the rest of us will now have to pay will assuage the liberal white guilt borne out of the 1960's counterculture, but I doubt it. I'll have to pay even more for your sins, narcissism, and arrogance, I'm sure.

I hope you all "feel" better about yourselves...

I obviously don't "get it" when it comes to what the people want from our government. The country has fundamentally changed from its roots, and not just yesterday. This started back in the early 20th century. If I wanted to live in Europe I would have moved there. If I wanted to live a large decaying urban city under continuous corrupt liberal rule I would have moved to Detroit, Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, or LA. I really don't get it. You can have your socialist utopia, just keep it away from me and my wallet.

I will probably wake up tomorrow to a different country - one that I will not recognize nor be grateful to be a citizen.

Reports of Democrat voter fraud and polling place voter intimidation abound but no one cares as long as "The One" wins. I know I am in the minority on almost every issue (or so I'm constantly told) but I have never seen so many instances of militant disregard for civil discourse, the squelching of any contrary debate, or free exercise of political expression. It's been proven to me time and time again this election season that those who proclaim to embrace the freedom of speech, practice nothing of the sort and have no qualms stifling dissenting opinion, defacing or stealing signs off of private property, and wanting to shut down media outlets that don't conform to the dogma of liberal orthodoxy. Just wait until the powers in control decide that YOU are on the wrong side...

Don't say you weren't warned. I've had it.
